Often we are asked, what is up with the elephant?!?! Well, Tantor takes its name from the elephant in Tarzan of the Apes by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the first audiobook title we published. Elephants have giant ears and we do audiobooks and we all know an elephant never forgets! So it all fell into place perfectly with our desire to bring listeners unforgettable unabridged audiobooks.
Through this blog we plan to bring you exciting author/narrator interviews, first chapter previews, staff picks, giveaways, exciting looks at upcoming titles, and anything else we can come up with to share more about us and our love of audio.

Flat Water Tuesday by Ron Irwin and narrated by Holter Graham. Then I was hooked!

My first audiobook dates back to my early childhood, years and years before anyone even started calling them audiobooks. We’re talking mid-1960s! It was Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland,” a set of vinyl LPs that came with a beautiful hardcover edition of the book. It was read by the amazing Cyril Ritchard and accented with original music composed by Alec Wilder. We also had the set for “Through the Looking Glass.” I listened to those stories over & over, sprawled on the living room floor, following along with the text and illustrations in the books. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if Tantor could secure the rights to bring those productions (long out of print) to digital for a new generation?

My first audiobook was Dracula back in 1999, but the book that got me hooked was Twilight in 2008 and never looked back since, I’m full blown junkie now.

My first audiobook memory goes WAY back to my childhood in the mid- to late-1960s … before anybody even called them audiobooks! Wouldn’t it be wonderful if Tantor could obtain the rights to these productions — long out of print — and make them available for a new generation?

My first audiobook was The Tao of Pooh, narrated by the amazing Simon Vance. It was a book I had loved in print and loved even more as an audiobook! A must listen for anyone who needs a little help finding their way.

My first audiobook was, technically, a 45 rpm record of the Fantastic Four that came with a comic book. First audiobook proper was Stephen King’s “The Green Mile” that I consciously decided I wanted to read with my ears instead of eyeballs.

Oh dear, my first audiobook was on brittle 78rpm records. It was an unforgettable Eva La Gallienne production of Alice in Wonderland featuring Bambi Lynn as Alice. I still remember the tune settings of “Soup of the Evening” and the Red Queen’s” lullaby” to what turned out to be a pig! The delight of listening which enhances imagination has stayed throughout my life and led to work as a narrator.
